There are many old-time myths (as in stories told by old cultures) revolving around foxes & wolves. There are also several myths (as in  misleading stories/rumors) perpetuating about foxes & wolves that should be dispelled (or confirmed, providing they're true.)

-Misleading Myths, Q&A-

myth: Foxes go on a "blood frenzy" in hen houses--they must be malicious creatures.
answer: *shakes head fiercely* The "blood frenzy", when a fox or pair of foxes enter a chicken coop and kill all of the chickens (when it is obvious that they can't eat that much meat at one sitting) is actually a survival tactic used by foxes called "surplus killing." When prey is readily available, foxes will take all they can, and if they are able to, will bury some of the remainder so they can dig it up and eat it later. Mm...rotten carrion.

myth: Wolves attack people.
answer: While it is true that sometimes wolves will attack people if they feel that their territories are infringed on (especially if they have cubs nearby), generally wolves are afraid of people and will run rather than avoid confrontation. Authorities say, however, that if faced with a wolf or pack, you should remain calm and not make any sudden movements. It is best to make yourself appear small and submissive so the alpha does not feel threatened.

myth: Foxes are cunning.
answer: Why yes, yes, yes--they are. This isn't a myth, now is it?
