~How do I love 'em, let me count the ways.~ Why do I like foxes? It's an interesting question really--something to think about, at least. My appreciation for this cunning solo predator probably stems from my days of canine adoration. Foxes intrigued me as the only canines that don't live the pack life (and let's face it, families can be annoying sometimes) and as the symbol of cunning and guile. Plus, they're cute, no? There's just something hauntingly beautiful about a forest scene with foxes trotting across the lush grassy floor, basking in the delectable rays of the moonlight. Besides, these critters don't get the homage paid to them that their especially favored cousins, the fat lazy house dogs, get paid to them. Even wolves get more attention -- I guess there's something more regal and commanding about a pack of graceful, silvery wolves running through the snow at twilight. *shrugs.* That, and they don't scavenge road kill for food. Often. But I like wolves too, so it's okay. And I like dogs as well, for that matter. I even have one. (Lilly!) Foxes are just my favorite. They're versatile, adaptable loners, and I relate to them. No bigger than a housecat, but still bunches tougher, they remain in superfluous numbers without selling their souls to humans and agreeing to become house pets. (Oh, but people TRY to make them house pets, don't they?) ^_~ |
